The Banshees of Inisherin is a unique story that is beautifully filmed and well-written, with memorable performances by both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. Many critics consider it one of the best films in 2023, and rightfully so.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
My Big Fat Greek Wedding has become a global phenomenon considering that it has become the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, and it’s still as relevant today. It was nominated for Best Original Screenplay, while in our opinion, it’s seven more important that it has won the audience’s approval.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding was initially a one-woman play written by and starring Nia Vardalos that gained word-of-mouth success at the Hudson Backstage Theatre. Rita Wilson saw the show and persuaded her husband, Tom Hanks, to produce a film based on the show, and the rest is history.
The film is centered around the life of «Toula» Portokalos, who lives with her parents and works in their restaurant, the Dancing Zorba’s. Her Greek family is loud, big, and overbearing, pressuring her to get married and have children.
But her life changes when she meets Ian, a non-Greek customer in her travel agency. Their lives are changed forever when Ian is eventually introduced to a family that doesn’t approve of their relationship. The film was a box office success with $368.7 million on a $5 million budget and has inspired three other sequels.
